FSGL 2008 Week 2 Press Release (4/30)
As usual, you will find updated links to the full press release and scorecards for last week and this week are in the margin at the right. Standings are also updated. And the boys were able to record a Season 5 premiere of Wastin’ Away on the North Coast in the back room after the golf league festivities.
I can still be a landshark, every now and then.
Team Jim immediately put last season behind them by staking themselves to the early lead with a strong 2-man scramble. They set the bar high with a substantial handicap against the second best gross score of the night. The Captain and the Oops always, and I mean, ALWAYS show up for Fore Skin golf. They took second place, but most importantly, iterated their postulate that the road to the Fore Skin Cup truly does go through Team 4. Newcomer Kato took veteran Baz under his wing and massaged a third place finish for the week. Is Team 6 just getting warmed up? Robber did not have as much luck with his newbie, Double A, as they struggled a bit. They have to find their game legs. Team 1 just doesn’t want to talk about it.
A highlight of the Wesburn course improvements was the new locker room, especially the fancy dancy sinks and faucets. Also, a new tee box on #9 makes for interesting decisions in the future as the creek sits in a landing area for good tee shots. The Captain and the Oops approve while others whined.
No Skins or Poker as the scramble and participation left us short of both money and scores. Heidi was back at Joe’s Prime Time Pub, but behind the bar. New talent included Rachel and another “Gal” (as Oops would say). Landshark Lager made its Fore Skin debut!
Regular Round Robin play begins. Back nine. Look for more distance on #12. Check your tee position. Remember Krazy Tee on #10.

FSGL 2008 Week 1 Press Release (4/23)
2008 First Night of Golf is April 23
Update 4/23: TODAY! Tee time is at 5:30pm. Be there early. Links to the right are updated with new information.
From the Treasurer:
POKER AND SKINS $5.00 ---- ALL or Nothing! YOU ARE ASSUMED IN AND WILL BE BILLED UNLESS YOU DECLARE BEFORE YOUR FIRST SHOT ON THE FIRST TEE!
Krazy Tee $2 --- Pay for a free shot on the first tee only!! ALL money collected to league fund!
C-ya.
Greetings to all Fore Skin Members. Welcome back to another golf season.
We are set to begin on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. 5:30 PM tee time. Please arrive ready to tee off by 5:25. We need to be more timely now that the course has more league play than ever before.
Bring cash or check. $300 total is due the league for the year. At least $150 is due the first week. If you have made a good faith payment for this year of $25 or something like that, consider that part of the $150. Everyone’s ledger needs to be up to $150 on the first week of golf. The remaining $150 is due by June 25, 2008.
We have finally gotten up to 12 players and 6 teams. Adam “Double A” Hellar has been promoted from sub status to full time Fore Skin glory. And Greg “Kato” Lakatos has finally accepted a 1/2-decade-long invitation to join the league. Please welcome these two fine golfers. Double A will be playing with bro-in-law Robber. The other half of old Team 2, Baz, will be accepting Kato as his playmate.
So, what this really means is, that we have 3 full foursomes and no bye weeks at all. The schedule is forthcoming. The rules will be updated and are always available here. The information on this web site will be updated shortly as well.
C-ya Wednesday.
Update:
Let’s review changes in our policies and rules, based on the Spring meeting on March 19 and follow-up.
Officers remain the same: President Kurt Heineman, Vice President Greg Galdes, Treasurer Scott Piestrak, Secretary Joe Taschler, Jr.
Cost: Still $300, even though the course has increased the greens fees by one dollar a week. We will drop any support for the outing and keep the fees at $300. $150 is due the first week. The rest is due by June 25.
Subs: $10 to play now. The money goes into the player’s ledger, not to our league fund. If no sub is used, or payment is not furnished, then no money goes into the player’s account. Still, $150 is due the first week. Only the rest of the fees can reflect any sub money received.
Roster: We added two more players, and reworked a couple teams. No more bye weeks.
Schedule: Full Round Robin twice, front and back. Four Position Nights, evenly on front and back. Four 2-man scramble nights, evenly on front and back.
Teams: We will assign team numbers by the finish of last year. In case you do not remember, The Captain and the Oops won again, so they will be Team #1, and so on. Want a team name? Please email a team name back to be used.
Rules: One rule change. The drainage ditches and the “forest” on the left side of the 15th fairway. These are not really hazards. You can roll the ball per usual. Get yourself out of the way of a bridge. Ground your club. Get it out of the “casual” water, but follow casual water rules (I believe, 2 club lengths from nearest relief, no closer to the hole), which means it may still be “in” the ditch or amongst the trees and that is ok.
