FSGL 2008 Week 18 - CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK - Press Release (8/27)
The championship is this week.
Note: This week, after the Championship has been decided, please all join in at Joe’s Prime Time Pub for door prizes, banquet, and the Fore Skin Cup Presentation. Don’t miss it! You paid for it! C-Ya at PTJoe’s!
And then there were two. Well basically, it all comes down to this. After 17 weeks of golf, the only thing that separates the teams is....a lot of points. Only two teams remain in mathematical contention, Team 4 - The Captain & the Oops, and Team 6: The Kato & the Baz. While team 4 has been here a ridiculously many times before, ending in both good and bad, team 6 is relatively young. Kato is a Fore Skin Rookie and Baz, well, he usually fades by now. This is all set up because the two teams each won their respective matches last week and broomed out any other pretenders.
No Poker and skins - but hey - let’s try for an end of the year poker/skins. What say all?
As already discussed, it is Team 4 and Team 6. The magic number for Team 4 is 6 points, while Team 6 has a large 18.5 magic number. But Team 4 is giving a bunch of strokes, 2 and 3 per hole, so there is a definite chance, since team 6 reached this level of points the last three weeks. Team 4 is the veteran team coming off three straight championships and five overall (won in three different eras). Can they keep their run or is it a new world order, ruled by the Mighty Baz and his sidekick Kato (or is it the Mighty Kato and his sidekick Baz?) Tune in this week for the winner-take-all (except Team 4 just needs 6 holes) match of the year!

FSGL 2008 Week 17 Press Release (8/20)
Note: Next week, after the Championship has been decided, please all join in at Joe’s Prime Time Pub for door prizes, banquet, and the Fore Skin Cup Presentation. Don’t miss it! Next week at PTJoe’s!
The shot of the week, and it pains this author to state so, is the chip in by the Camp Counselor on the 7th green. It was a fringe shot after taking a penalty stroke and saved par. But the shot wasn’t as special as the prediction. CCJ predicted that it would go in. And this witness has to admit he did not do this all night, like, “Watch this sand wedge shot, it is going to go in for birdie” or “Watch my drive NOT go into the woods” or “Watch me save double bogey here”. He made one prediction and it saved him par, he used it and the stroke he accepted to beat The Captain on the hole, and it turned out to win his match by the one stroke. Alas, this writer would be remiss if it were not mentioned that CCJ left his game on the 7th green and stumbled home (so did The Captain for that matter) and lost Team Medal points by less than a stroke. But. The Prediction! Babe Ruth calling his shot! Nostradamus! Scott’s chip in on the 7th green at Wesburn!
Remember the 1997 football season? Specifically, the bowl season the first couple days of 2008? When UM finished an undefeated season on Jan 1 and then the next night (or two), Nebraska, complete with a retiring Tom Osborne “earned” half the national championship (the less respected coaches poll half while Michigan remained the most respected poll champion) by beating Tennessee when Peyton Manning, apparently on his period at the time, and the rest of the Tennessee Hookers, er, I mean, Volunteers, football team came onto the field and laid down? Remember that? That whole scenario comes to mind for some reason. Meanwhile, Team 5 lost big time to Team 6. 19.5 to 4.5. It was nearly a whitewash. Both Baz and Kato played their best rounds of the year it must be said. Team 5, who were...thisclose...to contending for the Cup, have fallen back to the field.
No Poker and skins for some reason.
Last two weeks. Team 6 is making a run at the cup and is now a mere 15 points behind. They are finally taking advantage of Baz’s handicap and also Kato has manipulated his beautifully. Can Team 4 hang on for a 4th consecutive year. They have been trough this before. Can Baz learn from past years mistakes and grab a hold? Can Rookie Kato handle the pressure? Will anyone predict anything this week?
Only CCJ would compare it to this.

FSGL 2008 Week 16 Press Release (8/13)
The CCJ Trilogy concludes in pictures and words on his scorecard after Team 3 made a good showing and came in a strong second to the juggernaut known as Team 6, who parlayed Baz’s average into first place and four (count ‘em - 4!) skins.
Moose’s was OK, but the burgers seemed to intimidate our own BK (Burger King). The free appetizers were good, but only two were dished out.
The plan is to go back to PTJoe’s this week. At least, the podcast crew is voting for that this week. Meanwhile, the last two round robins kick off this week in the seemingly never-ending quest to catch Team 4 before the Position Night on August 27.
